Colorblocking

Color-blocking in the fashion world has taken hold. However, it can be a challenge. Ann Curry's outfit this morning on Today was a bit stop-lightish. Yellow sweater, green pencil skirt, red shoes.
Fashion always seems to dictate home decor. And, I always think, if you wouldn't wear it you're not going to like it in your house.

Getting Cooler. Getting Warmer?

Neutral palettes are the diving boards you can use to jump into different pools of color. What a metaphor. A little pinterest/internet window shopping experiment and this is what I came up with... which do you prefer cool or warm - blue or red? See how the "feel" of each room is different, let me know what you think! And, as always, have a great weekend!

Current color obsession

Maybe it's my sunburned shoulders and the half gallon of salt water I swallowed this weekend while learning how to paddle-board, but I'm really feeling turqouise and red combinations. The warm and cool tones balance one another, especially when paired with black, white and neutral.

For some reason, the layers of marvelous colors have sparked an interest in geology. I recently visited a showroom where the showpiece in a kitchen display was an agate countertop.
