How To Redux: Ikea

I have yet to accomplish great things like the proud few have in these pictures, I aim to do this before 2012 is up because I want new MATCHING bedside tables. The Ikea Rast "dresser" is $34.99, I say dresser in "air quotes" because it's actually called a chest on Ikea's website and measures Width: 24 3/8 ", Depth: 11 3/4", Height: 27 1/2 ".

Here are some d.i.y. inspirational posters.

stencils, not sure if I trust myself to make 6 things look exactly alike. I'm not a good measurer.

so mod. The chest itself is made of solid pine. Solid should probably be in air quotes.

Breathing in fumes

When my golden rhino arrived from White Faux Taxidermy, I was for lack of a better word... stoked. I wouldn't call it an impulse purchase, there are no regrets. On a necessity basis, I didn't need a gold rhinoceros  What!? yes I did.

And, this little fellow caused me to rummage through my "tool box" (also known as MB's shed) and find a can of gold spray paint I've been meaning to use. So, use it I did.

Lovely photography skills. This is 100% true life grit. UPS box, emptied of one rehearsal dinner cocktail dress, amidst gifts from this past weekend's bridal shower. I did NOT spray paint inside, I waited for them to (semi) dry before moving them. I have zip-zilch-nada patience.

Talk about instant gratification. MB goes to his bachelor party this weekend, wonder what else I can glamify while he's away!?

Happy Wednesday.

the home office.

I like the painted rectangle vs. corkboard. A little more permanent, but a very easy way to make any size bulletin board you like.

Moody, black office. The collection of prints on the wall is neat - look up close. And all the trim painted black makes the room feel very large.

Another moody black one, looks like grasscloth on the walls.

no skeletons in this closet, lots of sea urchins, and another black office, not as dark as you would think.

PlainAir

I happened to stroll by an Etsy shop, PlainAir, a few months ago. Toledo, Ohio artist Laura Hamilton has a very distinctive style. Her acrylic landscapes are impressionistic, colorful, almost "pixelized". In other words, I like them and think they're neat. She's quite expressive when it comes to seasons in Ohio, her study of color through landscapes are vividly bright and her color combinations are wonderfully intricate. Another visit to her shop today and she has even more fabulous paintings - if you haven't been, take a trip! And support Etsy artists because the earth without art is just eh, and so is your living room.

Back to School

Mid-August brings back the giant, yellow school buses that come roaring through neighborhoods and without fail makes me want to buy brand new school supplies, every year, like clockwork. This time of year is synonymous with sharp #2s and college-lined notebook paper. I love a brand new pen and an agenda book more than I love dessert ( major embellishment, that's not even possible ).

iomoi pens, which I probably won't attempt to say outloud until I know how to pronounce iomoi.

holds your homework, or if you're not in middle school, could hold your beach belongings, overnight necessities or creditcardsiphonecashkeys and cool leopard agenda.

iomoi pencils. weee-meee? waaah-muah?

reverse carrot, but I do like the combination of mint green and rusty orange.

you'd be fashionably late with this agenda, even if you were on time.

another BAGn'NOUN knapsack.

on a much more sophisticated level than Cher's feather pen from debate class.

On My Radar

Funny, because I've been completely off the grid, but this Etsy find has a strong signal and I wanted to share.

Wall mounted or sit arounds, White Faux Taxidermy has tongue-in-chic pieces that add a little trend and a little quirk to the room.

Have I missed Shark Week? While hiding in my wedding planning cave?? Hope not.

These items can be linked back to my Posts board on Pinterest. My plan is to start compiling all post pictures in the Posts board, I'm a creative namer. That way my organization will help the masses when they try to locate their golden rhino or hot pink tiger head...it's all on my Posts board, Pinterest, check it out. Also, here's a link to White Faux Taxidermy.

Happy August, apologies for the lack of posting, will be back to normal after October when I'm a Mrs.
