The Bahamian Way of Life
India Hicks said "It doesn't matter where you live, as long as you're enraptured by your surroundings. The important point is to live in harmony with your environment -- there's beauty everywhere." Well, she lives in the Bahamas and it's pretty easy to live in complete harmony on a tropical island. A good friend of mine spent her Thanksgiving in harmony with her family. She stayed in a beautiful home and so graciously took pictures of the house and shared them with me. Allow me to transport you...
Thanks G!

All that Glitters is Gold(ish)
Gold, brass, 18 karat plated, shiny yellow metal. Golden materials add warmth to a room that chrome, stainless steel and silver diminish. The addition of yellow metal adds a reflective quality and dimensionality to a room. Enjoy these golden nuggets of home decor.
Chandeliers are giant jewelry.
Mirrored Merth Trees, I was thinking Gold, Frankincense and Merrrr...th.

Feeling Jolly
I hope y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I have been listening to Christmas music since November 17th. Now that it is appropriate, I can share my obsessive love of this winter holiday. It's not just the presents, I promise. Any holiday that is called a season, I love, much like my birthday season. Any holiday that has it's own soundtrack. Any holiday that has a giant meal. Any holiday that has it's own color scheme, much like the 4th of July. Any holiday that involves multiple parties. Any holiday that promises another holiday one week later. In the holiday spirit, I found lots of jolly, holly-berry red chairs. Good to use year-round, an unexpected burst of red livens up a space, warms a room, makes your belly shake like a bowl full of jelly.
made from recycled coka-cola bottles (polar bear growl, santa packs are coming, I fall for advertisements)
via ikea.
for the yard.
also for the yard, izzz plastic.
Most of these chairs you would consider mid-century modern. These designs have been copied and multiplied and tweaked and sold in stores like Ikea for a fraction of the price. I have a real, live Eames molded plywood chair that if my house were burning down might be the thing I grab, besides Birdie dog of course. Any of these m.c.mod. styles could be mixed in with other styles, I think an eclectic mix is the way to go. So if you're in the market, invest in a piece of furniture art. And, ho ho ho.

Adair Calamos Interiors: Recent Design
1/Lamp 2/Accent pillows 3/Sconces 4/Mirror 5/Console 6/Bench 7/Baker's Cabinet 8/Eldridge Pendant 9/Library floor lamp 10/Indoor-Outdoor Rug.
This design was for a client's living room and dining room. The two rooms are connected with two half walls and columns so the rooms had to mesh. Their style is traditionally laidback with a combination of modern accents and a blend of masculine and feminine patterns. If interested in any of these fine products, please email me and I'll give you the information on them!

Malachite, Mala LIKE.
This lovely copper carbonate mineral results from the weathering of copper ores. The stone's name malachite literally means King in Greek and Arabic because it was associated with royalty. Also used to tint paint green. Wikipedia can make anyone sound like a smartie.
Two side tables flanking an off white sofa... my vision.
The pages inside the front and back cover of Kelly Wearstler's Domicilum Decoratus is malachite. And it is a book worth reading.
A Bracelet. Or a Christmas present?
A wee bit morbid for some, I don't mind decorating with human bones, it's edgy.
Fabric, dining room chairs or a vanity seat.
Great wallpaper for a small powder room.
It's almost Friday. woo.
